Stefan Kruse (B. 1987) is a research-based filmmaker and visual artist from Denmark working with ethical and philosophical questions related to technical image production. Often rooted in personal anecdotes, his work investigates human perception, mass media image circulation, surveillance technologies and ties to the military industrial complex. Working with a conceptual approach to narrative storytelling, his films examine different ways of seeing and experiencing the antics and bureaucratic nature of the modern world. Concerned with seemingly invisible industrial- and political structures, Stefan proposes an alternative space for critical reflection. In July 2024 he completed his Post Graduate at the Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln. The same year he published his first art publication STEFAN KRUSE A LACK OF CLARITY, with Buchhandlung Walther König. Most recently his latest short film A RECONNAISSANCE celebrated its world premiere at Visions du Réel in April 2025.
